(IN BRIEF) Chongqing Longjing Paper Co., Ltd. has successfully launched the first-ever ANDRITZ PrimeLineHyTAD tissue machine, a cutting-edge technology designed to reduce fiber and energy consumption in premium tissue production. The machine’s efficiency and environmental benefits align with market demands for sustainable manufacturing. The collaboration between ANDRITZ and Longjing Paper, which emphasized innovation and low-carbon solutions, also highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships in advancing the global tissue industry. Longjing’s “Green + High-end” strategy, powered by this new technology, aims to support mass production with improved efficiency and sustainability.

(PRESS RELEASE) GRAZ, 3-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Chongqing Longjing Paper Co., Ltd. has successfully commissioned the first-ever ANDRITZ PrimeLineHyTAD tissue machine, marking a significant milestone in the production of premium tissue products in China. This start-up also represents ANDRITZ’s breakthrough with this advanced technology in the global tissue industry.

The PrimeLineHyTAD is specifically designed to optimize fiber and energy use in the production of high-quality tissue products, including kitchen towels, wiping paper, toilet paper, and facial tissues. With the unique HyTAD process, the machine can save up to 25% in fiber usage compared to traditional dry crepe tissue machines and up to 50% in energy consumption compared to structured TAD tissue machines. These energy and fiber savings significantly reduce production costs and align with the growing market demand for environmentally sustainable manufacturing practices.

Key innovations, such as the PrimePress X shoe press and the PrimeDry IM impingement dryer, play pivotal roles in the HyTAD process. The shoe press at Chongqing Longjing is the largest in the global tissue industry, with a diameter and line load of up to 500 kN/m, enabling a dryness of approximately 48% after the press section. The impingement dryer uses exhaust air from the hood to pre-dry the paper, which results in more efficient drying and further reduces energy consumption.

The PrimeLineHyTAD tissue machine operates at speeds of up to 1,500 meters per minute with a width of 2.85 meters. It is equipped with the Metris digitalization system, which allows for real-time data analysis, display, and statistical process control, enhancing both production efficiency and product quality. ANDRITZ also provided comprehensive services, including installation supervision, commissioning, start-up, and training, ensuring a smooth and efficient startup of the machine.

Mr. Zhang Yun, President of Chongqing Longjing Paper Co., Ltd., commented, “From the technical proposal to paper on reel, the ANDRITZ team demonstrated exceptional professionalism. This collaboration was a critical step in Longjing’s ‘Green + High-end’ strategy. The ANDRITZ team worked closely with us to ensure the project was completed on time, securing a crucial timeline for mass production. This cooperation also sets a benchmark for collaboration between international suppliers and Chinese enterprises.”

Mr. Shi Wei, Vice President of Paper & Textile APAC at ANDRITZ, added, “The collaboration between ANDRITZ and Longjing Paper is not just about the delivery of equipment; it is a strategic integration of ‘technology + scenarios.’ Together, we will continue to innovate and deliver low-carbon solutions for China and the global market.”

Before delivery, the machine underwent extensive testing at the ANDRITZ Tissue Innovation and Application Center, the world’s most advanced pilot plant for tissue development. This facility is open to customers and research institutes for the testing and development of innovative tissue solutions.

Chongqing Longjing Paper Co., Ltd., founded in 2006 in Chongqing City, specializes in the production of household paper products, including toilet paper, facial tissues, and boxed facial tissues.
