Alfred Watzl Departs STRABAG Management Board as Succession Planning Underway

(IN BRIEF) Alfred Watzl, Management Board member for STRABAG SE’s South + East segment, has resigned by mutual agreement to explore new professional avenues. After 26 years with STRABAG (six on the Management Board), Watzl will support a careful transition to maintain segment performance. Supervisory Board Chair Kerstin Gelbmann thanked him for his service, and the Presidential and Nomination Committee is now organizing the succession process.

(PRESS RELEASE) VIENNA, 7-Aug-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — STRABAG SE today announced that Alfred Watzl, who has served as Management Board member for the South + East segment, will step down by mutual agreement with the Supervisory Board to pursue new career opportunities. Reflecting on 26 years with the company—including six years on the Management Board—Watzl expressed gratitude for his colleagues’ support and has pledged to facilitate a seamless handover that safeguards the segment’s momentum.

Kerstin Gelbmann, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, extended heartfelt thanks on behalf of the board and Watzl’s fellow executives for his long-standing dedication and contributions. The Presidential and Nomination Committee has already commenced its search for a successor to ensure leadership continuity and the continued positive trajectory of the South + East segment.
