(IN BRIEF) STRABAG Romania SRL has begun turbine installation at the 140 MW Deleni Wind Farm, the largest renewable facility in Moldova and one of Romania’s most ambitious clean energy projects. Commissioned by PPC Renewables Romania, the wind farm will generate about 370 GWh annually—enough to power 62,000 homes—while reducing CO₂ emissions by 215,000 tonnes. STRABAG has already delivered extensive civil, electrical, and infrastructure works, including roads, substations, and cabling. (PRESS RELEASE) VIENNA, 9-Sep-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — The construction of the Deleni Wind Farm in Vaslui County, Romania, has entered a new chapter as STRABAG Romania SRL, a subsidiary of STRABAG SE, begins the installation of 23 GE Vernova turbines, each rated at 6.1 MW. Acting as general contractor for PPC Renewables Romania, STRABAG is delivering what will become the largest renewable energy plant in the Moldova region and a flagship project for the country’s energy transition.

When completed at the end of 2025, the wind farm will provide 140 MW of installed capacity, producing roughly 370 GWh of electricity per year. This volume of renewable power will be sufficient for 62,000 households and is expected to cut annual carbon dioxide emissions by around 215,000 tonnes.

The preparatory phase has already delivered substantial infrastructure. STRABAG has constructed 23 turbine foundations, laid over 36 kilometers of access roads, installed comprehensive drainage networks, and completed 110 kilometers of medium-voltage cabling, supported by the building of four substations. These works provide the backbone for the farm’s turbine installation and long-term reliability.

Beyond its contribution to decarbonization, the Deleni Wind Farm strengthens Romania’s energy security by diversifying wind generation outside the Dobrogea region. Local communities in Deleni, Costești, and Bogdănești will benefit directly through new jobs, improved infrastructure, and increased tax revenue, making the project both an environmental and socio-economic investment.
