(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, 3-Dec-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — MAPFRE has reaffirmed its longstanding commitment to disability inclusion, highlighting the progress made through its global initiatives as the company marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Anastasia de las Peñas, Corporate Director of Employee Experience, emphasized that diversity strengthens companies by helping them attract a wider range of talents and perspectives. “A diverse workforce benefits everyone. It increases motivation, enhances creativity, and improves competitiveness,” she noted.

By the end of 2024, MAPFRE employed 1,152 people with disabilities across 27 countries, representing 4.2% of its workforce—a year-on-year increase of 5.7%. This growth reflects the company’s Sustainability Plan 2024–2026, which places disability inclusion and family support at the heart of its social commitment.

Improving employee experience and workplace integration

MAPFRE has developed its own methodology to better understand how employees with disabilities experience their integration into the company. In a recent survey covering 80 employees in 10 countries who joined within the last three years, participants rated the impact of their workplace integration on their quality of life at 8.4 out of 10. Respondents reported improvements in well-being, professional development, social relationships, and their overall work environment.

Support for families and inclusive financial aid

In Spain, MAPFRE continues to strengthen “Programa Familiares,” run through the Konecta Foundation, which provides job guidance for relatives of employees with disabilities. The program has supported 118 individuals, resulting in 91 employment contracts. In addition, MAPFRE’s collective agreement offers financial support to employees with disabilities and to those caring for family members with disabilities.

Awareness, culture building, and volunteering

The company is also focused on building awareness and fostering an inclusive culture. Its global disability initiative, “Miradas sin etiquetas,” attracted participation from 13,015 employees worldwide. MAPFRE also broadened its training offerings through talks, workshops, and its Global Unconscious Bias Program, which has now been completed by 9,712 employees. Over the course of 2024, MAPFRE teams carried out 281 volunteering activities aimed at improving the lives of people with disabilities.

Commitment to global diversity principles

MAPFRE is a signatory of Spain’s Diversity Charter, integrating its principles of inclusion, equal opportunity, and non-discrimination across gender, age, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, and other characteristics. In addition, the company is an active member of the ILO Global Business and Disability Network, reaffirming its commitment to advancing inclusive employment practices worldwide and demonstrating the business value of disability inclusion.
