(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, 11-Feb-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — MAPFRE RE has undergone a significant organizational restructuring to accelerate the company’s strategic goals, with a particular focus on expanding its Life business. The new structure aims to sharpen the company’s strategic, commercial, and technical focus while strengthening its relationships with clients and brokers. These changes are designed to enable a quicker and more flexible response to market dynamics and evolving client needs.

Effective March 1, the following key appointments and structural changes will take place:

Javier San Basilio has been named general manager of MAPFRE RE. In this role, he will oversee the coordination of regional divisions and will be directly responsible for managing large clients and brokers, among other essential functions.

The company’s Non-Group business will be reorganized into two primary areas: Non-Life Underwriting and Life Business. Carmen Bueso will take charge of Non-Life Underwriting, while Maite González will lead the Life Business division, which includes Life, Accident, and Health. Maite will also manage the coordination of regional supervisors for Life Business. Both Carmen and Maite will serve as assistant general managers in their new roles.

Additionally, Ricardo Pérez has been appointed manager of the Iberia/Latam regional area and will also join the MAPFRE RE Management Committee. The company’s regional structure will consist of four major areas: Iberia/Latam (led by Ricardo Pérez), APAC (under the leadership of Javier Sánchez Cea), EMEA (managed by Mark Meyerhoff), and North America (led by Carlos Sanzo).

The management of MAPFRE RE’s business within the MAPFRE Group remains unchanged, with Fernando Utrilla continuing as the head of the business.

A new area focused on Strategy, Communication, Sustainability, and Innovation will be established to offer a cohesive vision across all these sectors. This will be led by Juan Satrústegui.

Miguel Rosa, CEO of MAPFRE RE, emphasized: “These changes will allow us to move with increased agility and ambition as we take on new challenges in the years ahead. Our focus will remain on strengthening the Non-Life business while pushing forward the development of our Life business, where significant opportunities remain.”

The successful implementation of these changes will rely heavily on leveraging the skills and knowledge of MAPFRE RE’s talented workforce.
