19 Digital-Tech Specialists to Join Terna Through Redesigned Master’s Program in Energy Transition

(IN BRIEF) Terna and the University of Salerno have launched the fourth cycle of their 2nd-level Master’s in “Digitalisation of the Electricity System for the Energy Transition,” part of the Tyrrhenian Lab with Cagliari and Palermo. Applications are open until September 1 for a November start; the 12-month, 60-ECTS program includes eleven modules, bespoke learning paths, workshops, and fieldwork. Terna will hire all 19 graduates into full-time roles as digital-tech experts in its regional offices. Strong enrollment and outcomes from prior editions have secured funding for two more cohorts through 2027. The initiative supports the Tyrrhenian Link submarine cable project—970 km and €3.7 billion—designed to bolster renewable energy integration in southern Italy.

(PRESS RELEASE) ROME, 27-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Terna and the University of Salerno have unveiled the fourth edition of the 2nd-level Master’s Degree in “Digitalisation of the Electricity System for the Energy Transition,” part of the Tyrrhenian Lab collaboration alongside the Universities of Cagliari and Palermo. Presented on June 27, 2025 at the Biagio Agnes press room on Salerno’s Fisciano Campus, the announcement opens applications until September 1 for this 12-month, 60-ECTS-credit program beginning in November.

Building on robust demand and proven effectiveness from its first three cohorts, Terna has committed funding for two additional editions through 2027—underscoring both the Tyrrhenian Lab’s impact and southern Italy’s strategic importance for energy infrastructure and talent development. Graduates with technical-scientific or IT Master’s degrees are invited to apply. The curriculum features eleven modular courses, tailored learning tracks, programming workshops, and hands-on field activities designed to cultivate managerial, engineering, IT, and statistical expertise.

Upon completion, all 19 admitted students will receive full-time job offers at Terna’s regional branches as digital-technology specialists, directly supporting electricity-system management and the broader energy transition. This training initiative ties into the Tyrrhenian Link project—a roughly 970 km, €3.7 billion submarine power line connecting Campania, Sicily, and Sardinia to integrate renewable energy flows.
