(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 19-Sep-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Siemens has reached a significant milestone in its sustainability journey, with its net-zero targets for 2030 and 2050 officially validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This validation confirms that Siemens’ near- and long-term emissions reduction goals align with the SBTi Net-Zero Standard, a leading global framework for corporate climate targets.

Siemens’ targets cover Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, addressing both the company’s operations and its value chain. By 2030, Siemens aims to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions from its own operations (Scope 1 and 2) by 90% and cut Scope 3 emissions from its value chain by 30%, all compared to a 2019 baseline. For the longer term, Siemens pledges to maintain a 90% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and achieve a 90% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2050.
