Vortex Energy Names Wojciech Orzech as CEO to Drive Renewable Expansion in Poland

(PRESS RELEASE) ROTTERDAM, 2-Aug-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Vortex Energy, a prominent renewables company in Poland owned by Vitol, has appointed Wojciech Orzech as its new CEO. Orzech brings over 20 years of experience in energy and infrastructure, having most recently served as CEO of PKP Energetyka, a major energy company in Poland and power supplier to the national rail network.

In his new role, Orzech will work with Vortex’s management team to strengthen its leadership in renewable energy in Poland and enhance its position as a low-emission Independent Power Producer (IPP). Vortex Energy has already delivered over 450MW of operational wind and solar capacity, has 110MW of projects under construction, and a development pipeline exceeding 3GW in wind and solar, along with 2GW of battery energy storage. The company aims to accelerate the development of renewable energy across Poland by leveraging its capital and expertise.

Orzech’s previous roles include CEO of Energa, a leading Polish energy company serving over 2.9 million customers. He started his career in the insurance sector with Hestia and holds a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Gdansk. He also completed the Stanford University Business School Executive Programme in 2023.
