Vestas Lands 105 MW Wind Turbine Order for LEAG’s Forst-Briesnig II Project in Germany

(IN BRIEF) Vestas has secured a 105 MW order from LEAG for the Forst-Briesnig II wind energy project in Germany’s Lausitz region. The project, set on a former brown coal mining area, will include 17 V162-6.2 MW wind turbines. Vestas will also provide a 20-year maintenance service. The project, developed by LEAG Renewables GmbH, is part of the larger GigawattFactory initiative to transform the Lausitz region into a renewable energy hub. Turbine delivery is scheduled to begin in Q4 2025, with completion expected by Q3 2026.

(PRESS RELEASE) HAMBURG, 29-Jun-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Vestas has announced a significant agreement with LEAG for the 105 MW Forst-Briesnig II wind energy project in the Lausitz region of Germany. The project involves the delivery, supply, and commissioning of 17 V162-6.2 MW wind turbines, marking a substantial step in the transformation of a former brown coal mining area into a renewable energy hub. Vestas will also provide maintenance services under a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the turbines.

Developed by LEAG Renewables GmbH, a subsidiary focused on renewable energy projects, Forst-Briesnig II is a key part of LEAG’s GigawattFactory initiative, which aims to convert the Lausitz region into a renewable industrial and energy landscape.
