(PRESS RELEASE) AARHUS, 26-Mar-2025 — /EuropaWire/ —  Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH: VWS), a Danish global leader in sustainable energy solutions, announces that its Group President and CEO, Henrik Andersen, has been elected as the new Chair of WindEurope for an 18‐month term, according to the association’s Board of Directors. Representing over 600 companies and safeguarding approximately 300,000 jobs across Europe’s wind energy value chain, WindEurope is set to lead the charge in an era of accelerated energy transformation and increased industrial competitiveness. Andersen’s appointment comes at a crucial time when Europe is ramping up its efforts to secure home-grown, reliable, and cost-effective energy, as several key regulatory packages are anticipated to be finalized and implemented at national levels.

In his inaugural remarks, Andersen stated, “We are at a defining juncture for Europe’s future. Wind energy is not only vital for achieving energy independence, affordability, and security, but it is also a cornerstone for industrial growth. I am truly honored to lead WindEurope during this transformative period and look forward to working closely with Vice Chair Rasmus Errboe and all our members to turn ambitious targets into real-world achievements.”

As Chair, Andersen has identified three strategic priorities to strengthen the European wind industry. Firstly, he will focus on enhancing European competitiveness by positioning wind energy as a critical asset for energy independence and economic efficiency. Secondly, he is committed to accelerating electrification by bolstering the business case for electric solutions and ensuring that forward-thinking policies, such as those outlined in the Clean Industrial Deal, are effectively translated into practice. Finally, Andersen aims to cultivate a more favorable market environment by streamlining permitting processes, ensuring the economic viability of wind projects, and improving grid infrastructure to support rapid growth.

In addition to Andersen’s appointment, Rasmus Errboe, Group President and CEO of Ørsted, has been elected as Vice-Chair, reinforcing a strong leadership duo poised to drive forward the wind energy agenda across Europe.
