Skanska Secures CZK 1.3 Billion Contract to Upgrade Jihlava-City Railway Station in Czech Republic

(IN BRIEF) Skanska has signed a CZK 1.3 billion contract with The Railway Administration of the Czech Republic to modernize Jihlava-City railway station. The project, which includes new tracks, switches, security systems, barrier-free platforms, and a new station building, aims to improve reliability and safety. Construction will start in August 2024 and is expected to be completed by December 2025.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 23-Jul-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Skanska has secured a significant contract with The Railway Administration of the Czech Republic to modernize the Jihlava-City railway station. Valued at CZK 1.3 billion (approximately SEK 570 million), this contract will be recorded in Skanska’s European order bookings for the third quarter of 2024.

The modernization project includes a comprehensive overhaul of the track configuration, adding 5.6 kilometers of new tracks and installing 15 new switches along with advanced station security systems. Additionally, Skanska will construct two barrier-free platforms and a new station building.

These upgrades aim to enhance the reliability and safety of railway operations through improved security systems and infrastructure enhancements, including a new underpass designed to accommodate future high-speed rail integration.

Construction is slated to begin in August 2024, with the project expected to be completed by December 2025.
