(PRESS RELEASE) SÖDERTÄLJE, 11-Apr-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Scania today announced the acquisition of the Industrial Division of Northvolt Systems, a move that significantly bolsters its electrification portfolio for off-road applications. This acquisition includes all production capabilities, a dedicated research and development center, and a team of approximately 260 employees. Operations are conducted in two key locations: a leased production facility in Gdańsk, Poland, and an R&D center in Tomteboda, Stockholm, Sweden.

Northvolt Systems Industrial Division specializes in the development and manufacturing of battery systems for the heavy industry and off‑highway sectors. Its portfolio covers a range of battery modules and systems applied in material handling, construction equipment, and mining. By integrating these capabilities with Scania’s Power Solutions business unit, the company is set to diversify and enhance its product offering.

As part of the acquisition process, Scania has reached an agreement with the trustee to acquire Northvolt Systems Industrial Division, with the parties opting to keep the purchase price confidential.
