Rheinmetall Secures Mid-Two-Digit Million Euro Contract for Electric Coolant Pumps in Euro 7 Emission Standards Market

Rheinmetall Secures Mid-Two-Digit Million Euro Contract for Electric Coolant Pumps in Euro 7 Emission Standards Market

(IN BRIEF) Rheinmetall, a major international tech enterprise, has been awarded a significant contract for electric coolant pumps by one of the world’s largest automakers. The contract, valued in the mid-two-digit million-euro range, strengthens Rheinmetall’s position in the emerging Euro 7 emission standards market. Production is set to begin in the coming year and will continue for eight years until December 2031. The order includes nearly two million WUP3 electric coolant pumps, known for their quiet operation and long service life due to their wet rotor design. Rheinmetall serves as a Tier 1 supplier for this customer and anticipates future service contracts. The company’s expertise in thermal and fluid management applications positions it well in addressing mobility sector challenges, including emission reduction and improved efficiency, which are becoming increasingly critical with the implementation of stricter Euro-7 standards starting in 2025. Rheinmetall’s product portfolio spans various components for automotive and industrial applications, making it a key player in emissions reduction technologies.

(PRESS RELEASE) DÜSSELDORF, 28-Nov-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — One of the world’s biggest international automakers has awarded Rheinmetall another order for electric coolant pumps. The contract is worth a figure in the mid-two-digit million-euro range. The latest order widens the Düsseldorf-based tech enterprise’s share in the new Euro 7 emission standards market.

Production, which already begins next year, is set to run for eight years through to December 2031.  The order encompasses nearly two million WUP3 electric coolant pumps. Outperforming the competition, Rheinmetall won the request for tenders thanks to the high quality of its products.

WUP3 coolant pumps are wet rotar pumps, meaning that they are very quiet. With no mechanical seal, moreover, friction is low, resulting in a long service life

Rheinmetall serves this customer as a Tier 1 supplier.  Service contracts can be expected to come in the wake of this order, which underscores once again the Group’s ability to grow its share in the emissions reduction market thanks to its high-quality products. With the planned Euro-7 emission standards expected to be tighter than ever starting in 2025, this market segment will only grow in importance.

The Group’s Sensors and Actuators division is synonymous with outstanding expertise in thermal and fluid management applications in the mobility domain and industry. Its business units – Air Management, Thermal Management, Electrification & Digitalization, Business Area Hydrogen – develop solutions that address the great challenges facing the mobility sector, including downsizing, emission reduction and increased efficiency paired with simultaneous improvements in performance. Its comprehensive product portfolio encompasses a wide array of exhaust gas recirculation systems; electrically powered throttles, control dampers and exhaust flaps; solenoid valves; actuators and valve train systems; as well as oil, water and vacuum pump systems for cars, trucks and non-automotive light- and heavy-duty industrial applications.
