Revealed: How to get the best value savings on your Spanish summer holiday

MALAGA, Spain, 11-Jan-2018 — /EuropaWire/ — January is the busiest month for booking a summer holiday. With a little research and flexibility, you can bag a bargain beach holiday this summer for up to 60% cheaper than peak season rates. A week’s self-catering holiday on the popular Spanish Costas, for four sharing, costs from an average of €101 per person per week this summer.

The Holiday Rental Prices Report – Summer 2018 [read full report at https://www.spain-holiday.com/campaign/summer-holiday-rental-prices-report] is the latest Travel Trends Report from Spain-Holiday.com. It studies the price variations of holiday rental prices in June, July, August and September 2018.

The report reveals valuable insights for travellers looking to beat the crowds and get a great deal on their summer holiday in Spain.

Flexible travel dates can reap the biggest bargains.

According to the Holiday Rental Prices Report published this week by Spain-Holiday.com, just one week either side of peak of high season can see prices drop by an average of up to 13%. Two weeks either side of the peak of high season and those savings go up to an average of 32%.

High Season Weekly Price Variations

The budget travel sweet spot is the “shoulder season” – the time between high season and low season when the weather is still good, the crowds have thinned out, tourist attractions and amenities are still open, but travel and accommodation prices have dropped.

The Holiday Rental Prices Report – Summer 2018 reveals the cheapest and most expensive Costas, the best time to travel, the biggest savings to be made on peak rate prices and when.

A week’s self-catering holiday, for four sharing, in summer 2018 available from an average of €101 per person per week on the Costa de Almeria.

Bargain hunters should consider the Costa Calida and Costa del Azahar for their summer holiday – the Costa Calida is 22 per cent cheaper on average that the more well-known neighbouring Costa Blanca with the same temperatures and the Costa del Azahar is an average of €100/week cheaper than the neighbouring Costa Dorada with the same sunny climate.

The three most expensive beach destinations are Costa Dorada, Costa Blanca and Costa de la Luz. During peak season (the first two weeks of August) costs on average more than €1.000 for one week’s stay. In comparison, the same week’s stay on the Costa de Almeria is nearly half the price (46%) at €544, which is a saving of €471.

Here are the 4 TOP TIPS how to get a Spanish summer holiday in the sun for less:

1. Taking the sting out of the School Holiday Peak Rates
The first rule for booking a budget beach break is normally to avoid travelling in the school holidays. However, if you have school-age children, then holidaying during those pricey summer school holidays is unavoidable.

However, the latest travel trend report from Spain-Holiday.com shows that even during the high season school summer holidays in July and August, there are still savings to be made of up to 32% off peak travel rates on the Spanish Costas.

Jannich Petersen COO of Spain-Holiday.com recommends:

“If you can be flexible on destination, there are some great deals on family-friendly beach holiday rental properties, such as on the Costa Dorada, where a week’s stay in mid-July can be found for an average 32% off, compared to peak travel prices in August.”

2. Book early
Early January is the time to book your summer holiday or at the very least to be thinking about it and finalising your arrangements before end of February. Families with school-aged children already know the dates that you can go away, so the sooner you narrow down your choice of location, you will have the best pick of properties at the best price.

3. Timing is everything
The off-season traveller often sees the best of a destination. With the high season crowds thinning out, cheaper flights and better deals to be found on accommodation.

Flexible travel dates can reap the biggest bargains. Just one week either side of peak of high season can see prices drop by an average of up to 13%. Two weeks either side of the peak of high season and those savings go up to an average of 32%.

“The difference of a couple of weeks either side of peak season, and just a few degrees in temperature can add up to as much as 60% savings on average”, advises Jannich Petersen, COO Spain-Holiday.com.

4. Look further afield
Certain areas are always more popular, having been promoted as tourist destinations to the international market for many decades.  However, with a little research, you can find equally stunning locations without looking too far.

The Costa Blanca is one of Spain’s beach destination hotspots and the price reflects this with an average peak travel rate of over €1,000 for a week’s accommodation in high season. However, accommodation on the neighbouring Costa Calida, is an average 22 per cent cheaper, saving more than €100 per week.
