The new agreement strengthens a partnership that began in 2012 and reinforces both companies’ commitment to sustainable energy logistics. Under the deal, NORDEN will move multiple handysize shipments of 27,000–33,000 metric tons each from U.S. East and Gulf Coast ports to customers in the UK and Europe. CEO Jan Rindbo said the renewed partnership highlights NORDEN’s contribution to enabling cleaner energy alternatives across the Atlantic.

(PRESS RELEASE) HELLERUP, 5-Nov-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — NORDEN has announced the signing of a new two-year Contract of Affreightment (COA) with Enviva, the world’s largest producer of sustainable wood pellets. The agreement, which will commence in 2026, strengthens the long-standing partnership between the two companies and supports the ongoing transition toward renewable energy by ensuring the efficient transport of environmentally responsible fuel across the Atlantic.

Building on a collaboration that dates back to 2012, this new contract expands NORDEN’s role in delivering wood pellets from Enviva’s production facilities across the Southeastern United States to customers in the United Kingdom and Europe. The wood pellets, a key component in replacing fossil fuels for power generation, play a vital role in reducing carbon emissions and supporting global decarbonization efforts.

“NORDEN is proud to continue our partnership with Enviva,” said Jan Rindbo, CEO of NORDEN. “Enviva is a valued customer to us, and we are pleased that our relationship and performance have led to their decision to extend the contract. Our collaboration allows us to once again deliver wood pellet products that help provide sustainable energy solutions to customers across the Atlantic.”

Under the agreement, NORDEN will operate multiple handysize vessel shipments over the two-year period, transporting between 27,000 and 33,000 metric tons of cargo per voyage. The vessels, typically 170–185 metres long and 27–31 metres wide, will load from ports along the U.S. East and Gulf Coasts, delivering to European energy customers who rely on biomass as a cleaner energy source.

This latest contract underscores NORDEN’s growing commitment to supporting the global energy transition by providing reliable, efficient, and sustainable maritime transport solutions. The continued partnership with Enviva reflects both companies’ shared dedication to reducing carbon emissions and advancing renewable energy distribution on a global scale.
