Nokia equips Netplus with 400G routing and SDAN platform to expand broadband and IPTV services across northern India

(IN BRIEF) Nokia has deployed its 400G routing technology and software-defined access network (SDAN) platform for Netplus, one of India’s fastest-growing ISPs, to expand broadband and IPTV services across Punjab and nearby regions. The upgrade enables Netplus to serve nearly two million users with faster, more energy-efficient, and flexible services while preparing the network for advanced applications like IPTV, digital classrooms, and online gaming. By integrating Nokia’s 7250 IXR and 7750 SR routers with Lightspan OLTs for FTTH, Netplus gains a converged, future-ready architecture that reduces operating costs and enhances service assurance. Executives from both companies emphasized that the collaboration positions Netplus as a digital leader in northern India, supporting customer demand for on-demand video and interactive services while contributing to sustainable growth through energy-efficient solutions and advanced automation.

(PRESS RELEASE) ESPOO, 20-Aug-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Nokia has announced the successful deployment of its advanced 400G routing technology and software-defined access network (SDAN) platform with Netplus, one of India’s fastest-growing Internet Service Providers. This deployment strengthens Netplus’ broadband and IPTV offerings across Punjab and into other cities, enabling the company to deliver faster, more immersive, and energy-efficient services to nearly two million customers.

The integration of Nokia’s latest network solutions provides Netplus with the flexibility to transition its subscribers from traditional linear TV to modern IPTV services while supporting high-bandwidth applications such as digital classrooms, online gaming, and e-commerce. By incorporating energy-efficient components across every network layer, the project also helps reduce operational costs and contributes to the ISP’s long-term sustainability goals.

Arshdeep Singh Mundi, Executive Director at Netplus, highlighted the importance of this upgrade in meeting today’s consumer expectations: “Users now want seamless access to high-speed IPTV and interactive services across multiple devices. This collaboration with Nokia gives us the ability to deliver enhanced customer experiences with improved energy efficiency and adaptability, while driving our vision of building next-generation digital highways for northern India.”

The deployment leverages Nokia’s 7250 Interconnect Routers (IXR) series for broadband aggregation and the 7750 Service Router (SR) for broadband network gateway (BNG) functions. In addition, Nokia’s Lightspan Optical Line Terminals (OLT) with GPON and XGSPON technology are being used for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) connections, creating a converged and future-proof architecture designed for scalability and long-term service assurance.

Jivitesh Nayal, Head of Emerging Business for Network Infrastructure at Nokia India, emphasized how the partnership is shaping the future of connectivity in India: “This deployment empowers Netplus with the performance, automation, and scalability necessary to support the country’s growing appetite for IPTV and other data-intensive applications. By enabling greater reliability, reducing energy costs, and building toward a flexible, cloud-driven architecture, we are laying the foundation for India’s broadband future.”

The architecture also integrates Nokia’s Altiplano Access Controller, which introduces advanced automation and closed-loop control across access networks. This ensures optimized service delivery, faster diagnostics, and improved orchestration, helping Netplus accelerate its rollout of new services while maintaining high reliability standards.

With this milestone, Nokia and Netplus together are advancing digital connectivity across northern India, enhancing customer experiences and positioning the region for sustainable growth in the era of high-speed broadband and next-generation IPTV.
