(PRESS RELEASE) ATHENS, 12-Aug-2019 — /EuropaWire/ — METKA EGN signed a contract with Atacama Solar S.A. to undertake the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and operation and maintenance (O&M) services for two years of the Atacama Solar II 170,65MWp PV project located in the municipality of Pica, Tarapaca Region, in Chile. METKA EGN is a subsidiary of MYTILINEOS S.A. and Atacama Solar S.A. is a subsidiary of the solar independent power producer Sonnedix.
The Atacama Solar II 170,65MWp PV project is expected to be completed in December 2020. Once completed, the solar plant will generate approximately 470GWh of clean electricity annually. It will generate enough electricity for more than 100,000 homes needs and avoiding around 200,000 metric tons of CO2 emission per year. It will be among the largest solar power projects in Chile.
METKA EGN completed projects for Sonnedix includes: Oriana 57MW PV project in Isabela, Puerto Rico and the 5 MW Lavansol M8 solar park, in Saint Etienne Des Sorts, in France. The Atacama Solar II 170,65MWp PV project is the third project for for Sonnedix by METKA EGN.
Since 2016, METKA EGN has been active in the Latin American market.
The total cost of the investment for Sonnedix is of US$180 million (EUR160 million).
