M&S Princes Street Showcases Fringe Talent and Scottish Flavours with Festival-Themed In-Store Celebrations

(IN BRIEF) M&S Princes Street is joining the Edinburgh Festival celebrations this August with a programme of in-store entertainment and local food showcases, while also spotlighting team member Michael Garden’s Fringe debut in the spy comedy You Have Failed Me For The Last Time!. Running at The Space on The Mile until 22 August, Michael’s performance draws on his nine years of acting experience alongside his role at M&S. The store will offer Scottish food tastings, including produce from Taylors Snacks, and host live performances from colleagues ranging from bagpipe music to DJ sets. Store Manager Jon Cameron praised Michael’s creativity and the opportunity to give customers a lively, festival-inspired shopping experience.

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 13-Aug-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — M&S Princes Street is embracing the spirit of the Edinburgh Festival this August by celebrating both local creativity and homegrown talent — including store team member and aspiring actor, Michael Garden. Michael, who has been part of the M&S Princes Street team since 2023, is making his Fringe debut in the spy comedy You Have Failed Me For The Last Time! at The Space on The Mile, running until 22 August on even days.

Originally from Kintore, Aberdeenshire, and now based in Edinburgh, Michael has spent nine years honing his craft through studies at North East Scotland College and Edinburgh Napier University. His theatre work runs alongside his role at M&S, where he began in M&S cafés via the Kings Trust programme, Marks & Start, before joining the Princes Street store. His participation in the Fringe offers customers a chance to see his creative side beyond his day-to-day role.

To mark the festival season, M&S Princes Street is transforming into a hub of culture and local flavour. Throughout August, the store will showcase regional producers such as Perthshire-based Taylors Snacks, featuring their M&S “Extreme Ridge” crisp range. Visitors will be able to sample Scottish favourites, from freshly picked strawberries to buttery shortbread, creating a festival-inspired food experience.

In addition, store colleagues will provide live entertainment, bringing the festive spirit indoors. Performances will include bagpipe music from Kayla Bennie, DJ sets, live singing, and guitar sessions — perfect for customers stocking up on picnic essentials before heading to Fringe venues across the city.

Store Manager Jon Cameron said: “The Edinburgh Fringe is about sharing unique voices and unexpected stories, so we’re proud to highlight the creativity within our team and our local suppliers. Michael’s dedication to both his role and his passion for theatre is truly inspiring. His acting experience brings confidence and energy to our store every day, and we can’t wait to see him shine on stage while offering our customers a fresh and uplifting in-store experience.”
