(PRESS RELEASE) NUREMBERG, 22-May-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Leoni AG is proud to announce the opening of its new plant in Agadir, Morocco, marking a significant step forward in the company’s commitment to digitalization, efficiency, and sustainability. This state-of-the-art facility is dedicated to the production of wiring systems for commercial vehicles, including trucks, powertrains, and off-road segments, and it is designed to set new standards for both innovation and environmental responsibility.

In line with Morocco’s national sustainability goals, particularly energy-efficient technologies have been installed in Leoni’s new plant in Agadir to keep the plant’s CO2 footprint at minimum level.

The new plant reflects Leoni’s ambition to expand its presence in the global commercial vehicle market and solidifies Morocco’s growing role as a key hub for the automotive industry. With an investment exceeding 20 million euros, the Agadir facility is designed to produce wiring systems with high complexity and comparatively small batch sizes, which are typical for the commercial vehicles segment. The plant’s advanced manufacturing processes are digitally integrated, ensuring operational excellence and reinforcing Leoni’s commitment to automation and digitalization in production.

“We aim to grow faster than the market in the commercial vehicle segment, and the Agadir plant is a clear demonstration of our commitment to this goal,” said Ingo Spengler, COO of Leoni AG. “By leveraging advanced technologies, energy-efficient solutions, and smart automation, we are optimizing our production capabilities while maintaining sustainability at the heart of our operations.”

Leoni’s investment in the Agadir plant will create more than 3,000 new jobs in the region by 2027, providing substantial economic benefits to the local community. The plant’s location on Morocco’s Atlantic coast is strategically advantageous, with close proximity to major commercial vehicle manufacturing facilities. The region also boasts a skilled workforce, ensuring the plant’s long-term growth and success.

As part of its commitment to environmental responsibility, the new facility aligns with Morocco’s national sustainability objectives by integrating energy-efficient technologies aimed at minimizing the CO2 footprint of the plant. This makes the Agadir facility a flagship project for Leoni, showcasing best practices in sustainable manufacturing and setting benchmarks for future production across the company’s global network.

Leoni will also invest in regional development initiatives, including educational programs, to support the local community and ensure a positive impact on the region’s development.
