(PRESS RELEASE) AUGSBURG, 11-Feb-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — KUKA Group, a global leader in robotics and automation, has announced ambitious new environmental goals as part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability and carbon neutrality. By 2050, the company aims to achieve carbon-neutral production and reduce emissions across its entire value chain, targeting a 90% reduction by that year.

As part of its comprehensive environmental strategy, KUKA has set specific, measurable goals to significantly reduce its emissions. The company plans to cut emissions from its direct operations (Scopes 1 and 2) by at least 40% by 2030 compared to 2022 levels, with a long-term goal of achieving full climate neutrality by 2050. Additionally, KUKA will aim for a 20% reduction in emissions across its value chain (Scope 3) by 2030, progressing to a 90% reduction by 2050.

Peter Mohnen, CEO of KUKA Group, emphasized the company’s responsibility as a global technology leader: “As a technology group that shapes the future of automation, we are committed not only to developing resource-efficient products for our customers but also to making significant improvements in our own operations. Our clear environmental targets span the entire value chain, from production to delivery.”

To meet these objectives, KUKA will focus on enhancing energy efficiency at its facilities, leveraging renewable energy sources, and transitioning its company car fleet to electric vehicles by 2030. These efforts will contribute to KUKA’s overall sustainability strategy, which also aims to improve the environmental footprint of its manufacturing processes.

KUKA’s commitment to sustainability has been recognized with several awards, including a nomination for the 2024 German Sustainability Award for its outstanding ecological and social contributions. Additionally, the company was honored with the ESG Transparency Award in the “Excellence” category for its transparent communication and integration of sustainable practices into its business operations.
