(PRESS RELEASE) MUMBAI, India, 6-Feb-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Kuehne+Nagel has inaugurated a new 3,500 square metre purpose-built Container Freight Station (CFS) in Mumbai, marking a significant expansion of its Sea Logistics footprint in India and reinforcing its commitment to supporting the country’s growing trade and logistics ecosystem. The facility is designed to enhance operational efficiency, improve connectivity, and enable faster cargo processing for customers engaged in international trade.

Strategically situated in close proximity to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), India’s largest seaport, the new CFS benefits from immediate access to one of the nation’s most critical maritime gateways. JNPA handles a substantial portion of India’s containerised cargo, making the location a key advantage for streamlined supply chain operations and reduced turnaround times.

The facility has been developed as a built-to-suit logistics hub with scalability in mind, allowing Kuehne+Nagel to adapt capacity and services in line with evolving customer requirements. Beyond standard cargo handling, the site supports a range of value-added logistics activities that enhance shipment visibility, security, and operational reliability.

Safety and compliance have been integrated into the facility’s design and operations. The CFS operates under rigorous security protocols, including continuous end-to-end surveillance, and adheres to internationally recognised standards such as CTPAT, AEO, and ISO certifications. These measures ensure that the facility meets global benchmarks for security, quality, and operational integrity.

Sustainability has also been a core consideration in the development of the site. The facility incorporates environmentally responsible features, including the use of electric material-handling equipment and solar-powered lighting systems, reducing its carbon footprint while supporting Kuehne+Nagel’s broader commitment to greener logistics solutions.

Anish Kumar Jha, Managing Director for Kuehne+Nagel India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives, highlighted that the new CFS will enable faster, more integrated logistics operations. He noted that the facility is designed not only to meet current customer needs but also to support future growth and evolving supply chain requirements.

India’s economic trajectory is increasingly shaped by its role in global trade, with projections indicating that it could become the world’s third-largest economy within this decade. With more than 70 per cent of the country’s trade conducted via sea routes, the demand for modern, efficient logistics infrastructure continues to rise. The new Mumbai CFS strengthens Kuehne+Nagel’s ability to support this expanding trade landscape while reinforcing India’s position as a major player in international commerce.
