JUWI Names Renewable Energy Veteran Jost Backhaus as CEO to Lead Finance, Strategy, and Growth

(IN BRIEF) JUWI GmbH will appoint Jost Backhaus as Chairman of the Management Board on October 1, 2025, where he will manage Finance, HR, Legal, Strategy, and Portfolio Management. He replaces Carsten Bovenschen, who exited at the end of May for personal reasons, and joins Christian Arnold and Stephan Hansen on the executive team. Backhaus, an industrial engineer with over 26 years in renewables, most recently led Steelwind GmbH and previously served on Enercon GmbH’s board. Dr. Hansjörg Roll praised his national and international experience, and Backhaus expressed enthusiasm for advancing JUWI’s project development and services to support the energy transition in Germany and abroad.

(PRESS RELEASE) WÖRRSTADT, 27-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — JUWI GmbH has announced that Jost Backhaus (52) will assume the role of Chairman of the Management Board effective October 1, 2025. In his capacity as CEO, Backhaus will oversee Finance along with Human Resources, Legal Affairs, Strategy, and Portfolio Management. He succeeds Carsten Bovenschen, who departed on May 31, 2025 for personal reasons. Partnering with Christian Arnold and Stephan Hansen, Backhaus will complete JUWI’s three-person executive leadership team.

An industrial engineer by training, Backhaus brings over 26 years of experience in the renewable energy sector. Since 2023, he has served as Managing Director of Steelwind GmbH in Nordenham, Lower Saxony, where the company specializes in foundations for offshore wind turbines. Prior to that, he was a member of the Management Board at Enercon GmbH, a global onshore wind turbine manufacturer. His career includes additional senior roles across the wind power industry.
