(PRESS RELEASE) MILAN, 22-Sep-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Intesa Sanpaolo, through its IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division led by Mauro Micillo, has hosted the first edition of Italian Equity Champions in New York, a landmark investor conference designed to strengthen ties between Italian companies and the global financial community. The event represented a strategic platform for dialogue, bringing leading Italian corporates face-to-face with international institutional investors and highlighting Italy’s role in global capital markets.

Building on the success of the Italian Stock Market Opportunities Conferences held in Europe, which engaged more than 30 listed companies across major financial hubs, the IMI CIB Division has expanded the concept for the American market. This reimagined edition was tailored to create direct connections between Italian corporates and US investors, fostering new opportunities for growth and internationalisation.

The inaugural conference gathered prominent Italian listed companies — Azimut Holding, Brembo, CNH, Eni, Piaggio, Pirelli, Sanlorenzo, Technogym, and Technoprobe — who engaged with over 30 institutional investors representing 25 major investment firms. The strong attendance underscored the global interest in Italian businesses and the resilience of their strategies.

Alberto Mancuso, Head of International Network at the IMI CIB Division of Intesa Sanpaolo, commented: “With Italian Equity Champions, we aim to promote Italian excellence on global markets, strengthening the connection between Italian corporates and international investors. The selected ‘super-champions’ stand out in the eurozone with unique features, positioning them strongly to navigate today’s complex scenarios. This initiative enriches our efforts to connect international capital with Italian enterprises.”

The event featured opening remarks from Nicola Baiocchi, Country Manager USA & Americas, and Stefano Marras, CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo IMI Securities Corporation, followed by a macroeconomic outlook from Luca Mezzomo, Head of Macroeconomic Analysis, and market insights from Giampaolo Trasi, Co-Head of Equity & Credit Research. Analysts highlighted the challenges and opportunities faced by listed companies in 2025, including geopolitical instability, shifting US trade policies, and macroeconomic headwinds. While acknowledging uncertainty in the US market, they pointed to Italy’s strong Q2 earnings season — with 90% of companies meeting or raising guidance — and opportunities linked to Europe’s infrastructure and defence investment plans as well as China’s ongoing stimulus policies.

Italian Equity Champions was organised with the support of Intesa Sanpaolo’s Equity Research team, IMI Securities Corp., and the New York Branch of the IMI CIB Division. The Group has had a significant presence in the US since the 1980s through Banca Commerciale Italiana, and today the New York Branch remains a cornerstone of the Division’s International Network, supporting corporate and institutional clients across the Americas.

Intesa Sanpaolo has also been involved in financing landmark US projects, such as Project Cider, the largest solar park in New York State; the construction of Miami’s largest cruise terminal; the development of New Terminal One at JFK Airport in New York; and the financing of SunZia, the largest renewable energy infrastructure project in New Mexico. These achievements, led under the guidance of CEO Carlo Messina, reflect the Group’s role as a long-term partner in strategic global projects while actively promoting the international expansion of Italian enterprises.
