Henkel Launches AI-Driven, Recyclable Battery Solutions at The Battery Show Europe 2025

(IN BRIEF) At The Battery Show Europe 2025, Henkel will introduce transformative innovations for EV battery systems, including AI-generated virtual adhesives, mica-replacement safety coatings, conductive electrode materials, and advanced debonding technologies. These solutions accelerate battery development, enhance performance, and support circularity. Henkel will also unveil Path.Era, a scalable digital battery passport system co-developed under Catena-X to enable full traceability across the battery lifecycle. With live demonstrations and conference presentations, Henkel underscores its leadership in safer, faster, and more sustainable EV innovation.

(PRESS RELEASE) DÜSSELDORF, 24-Apr-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Henkel is set to make a dynamic impact at The Battery Show Europe 2025 (June 3–5, Messe Stuttgart, Hall 10, Booth G10) by presenting a range of advanced materials and digital solutions designed to revolutionize electric vehicle (EV) battery performance, safety, and sustainability. With a focus on shortening development cycles, enhancing functionality, and enabling recyclability, Henkel is demonstrating its commitment to driving forward the future of e-mobility.

Among the headline innovations are Henkel’s AI-generated virtual adhesives, a game-changing development that allows manufacturers to simulate and predict adhesive behavior during the early design phase. This virtual approach reduces reliance on physical prototypes and accelerates time-to-market while lowering development costs.

Henkel is also introducing breakthrough conductive coatings that significantly improve adhesion and conductivity in both wet and dry electrode processes—boosting battery cell efficiency, manufacturing sustainability, and end-performance.

In a major advancement for battery safety, Henkel’s automated safety coatings are replacing traditional mica sheets with a solution that offers thermal stability up to 1400°C and superior electrical protection. These coatings are designed for automated application, ensuring consistency and simplifying the recycling process.

The company will also debut its advanced debonding technologies, which allow structural adhesives in film, tape, and liquid formats to be removed even at high strength levels (up to 12 MPa). These innovations support everything from in-service repairs to end-of-life recycling and second-life applications, with live demos happening hourly at the booth.

Complementing these materials, Henkel will unveil Path.Era—a scalable digital battery passport solution, developed in collaboration with partners under the Catena-X initiative. Path.Era aims to provide full traceability and circularity across the EV battery value chain.

On June 3 at 3:00 p.m., Keon Lee, Senior Manager Product Development Battery Solutions at Henkel, will speak on the scientific progress behind debonding technologies and their impact on battery repair and recycling.

Visitors to Henkel’s booth can explore a product wall displaying the full range of solutions—from thermal gap fillers and conductive coatings to sealants, safety pottings, and cleaners—positioning Henkel at the forefront of sustainable, high-performance EV battery technology.
