EQT Foundation Launches Global Grants to Drive Deeptech Innovation in Women’s Health

(IN BRIEF) The EQT Foundation has opened a global call for proposals under its Breakthrough Science grants program, offering grants from €25,000 to €100,000 to researchers focused on addressing critical female health challenges with deeptech solutions. The initiative seeks to boost innovation in diagnostics, therapeutics, and other areas that have traditionally been underfunded in women’s health, such as conditions related to endometriosis, cardiovascular diseases, and maternal complications. The program welcomes applications from scientists at accredited institutions worldwide and provides not only financial support but also access to EQT’s global network, industry partnerships, commercialization assistance, and expert mentorship. Applications close on April 27, 2025, with final recipients to be announced in early June 2025.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 25-Mar-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — The EQT Foundation has launched a global call for proposals under its Breakthrough Science grants program, inviting pioneering researchers to develop deeptech solutions that address critical gaps in female health. With grant awards ranging from €25,000 to €100,000, this initiative is dedicated to accelerating breakthrough scientific innovation in diagnostics, therapeutics, and other deeptech areas focused on women’s health challenges. Recognizing that female-specific health issues have long been underfunded despite their enormous economic and societal impact, the program aims to empower scientists from accredited institutions around the world to bridge this longstanding disparity.

Historically, research and funding in women’s health have lagged behind, resulting in delayed diagnoses, limited treatment options, and suboptimal health outcomes for conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, autoimmune disorders, and gynecological and maternal complications. In many cases, particularly in low-resource environments, the lack of specialized care and innovative solutions compounds these challenges. By specifically targeting these issues, the EQT Foundation’s grants program seeks to transform the landscape of female health research.

The initiative prioritizes proposals that focus on several key areas: the development of advanced diagnostics for conditions like endometriosis and cardiovascular diseases; non-hormonal therapeutic options for menstrual and menopausal health, as well as other gynecological issues; and deeptech innovations that improve the accessibility, affordability, and effectiveness of care for women. In addition, the program supports innovative solutions aimed at enhancing maternal health, particularly for complications such as pre-eclampsia and pre-term birth, across both high-resource and low-resource settings.

Beyond financial support, the EQT Foundation offers successful applicants access to EQT’s extensive global network. This includes opportunities to collaborate with industry partners, receive commercialization support, and benefit from expert mentorship—all designed to help translate innovative research from the laboratory to the marketplace.

Researchers interested in applying have until April 27, 2025, 23:59 CET to submit their proposals. After an initial review by a panel of experts, selected candidates will proceed to a second-stage interview with the EQT Foundation team. Final grant recipients will be announced in early June 2025. Additional details about the program are available on the EQT Foundation website.
