DHL Group strengthens regulatory and advocacy leadership with appointment of Maike Asmussen

(IN BRIEF) DHL Group has appointed Maike Asmussen as Executive Vice President for Corporate Public Affairs, effective January 1, 2026. She joins from Merck, where she was Chief Political Officer, and brings over two decades of political and advocacy experience, including senior roles in German state and federal institutions. Asmussen succeeds Volker Ratzmann, who will retire at the start of 2026 but remain with the Group in a transitional capacity until the end of July. CEO Tobias Meyer praised Ratzmann’s contributions, especially in regulatory affairs and sustainability, and welcomed Asmussen’s appointment as a valuable step in strengthening DHL’s global public affairs strategy.

(PRESS RELEASE) BONN, 30-Sep-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — DHL Group has announced that Maike Asmussen will assume the role of Executive Vice President for Corporate Public Affairs on January 1, 2026. She succeeds Volker Ratzmann, who is retiring after many years of service, and will report directly to Tobias Meyer, CEO of DHL Group.

Currently serving as Chief Political Officer at science and technology company Merck, Asmussen brings more than 20 years of experience in politics, policy, and global advocacy to her new role. Her career includes senior responsibilities within the Hessian State Chancellery, the Federal Ministry of the Interior, and the Federal Chancellery, where she managed engagement with parliaments, regulatory authorities, and European institutions.

Tobias Meyer, CEO of DHL Group, welcomed the appointment: “We are delighted to have Maike Asmussen join us. Ratzmann will formally step down from his role at the beginning of 2026 but will continue to support selected projects until July 31, 2026, ensuring a smooth transition.
