Continental Unveils Personalized Window Projection Technology at CES 2025

(IN BRIEF) At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, Continental will debut its innovative window projection solution, which allows content to be displayed on a vehicle’s rear side windows, visible from the outside when parked. The technology uses a mini projector installed in the vehicle’s roof lining, projecting high-resolution content onto a darkened side window. The content is personalized through Continental’s eTravel.companion software, which tailors suggestions based on the driver’s habits and environment. The system can display various personalized information, such as the vehicle’s charge level or sports team logos. Continental partnered with the banbutsu platform to offer these smart, context-based experiences.

(PRESS RELEASE) HANOVER, 6-Jan-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Continental is set to unveil its innovative window projection solution at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, where it will showcase an impressive way of projecting content onto the rear side windows of vehicles. This cutting-edge technology allows personalized content to be visible from outside the vehicle, even when parked. Drivers will be able to display key information, such as their electric vehicle’s charge level or the logo of their favorite sports club, directly on the window. A mini projector, housed within the vehicle’s roof lining, projects high-resolution content onto a fully darkened side window, creating an impressive visual display with minimal installation space.

“We are proud to offer a solution that projects content of exceptional quality onto the side windows, which can be tailored to the driver’s preferences and lifestyle, enhancing their connection with the vehicle,” said Pavel Prouza, head of User Experience at Continental.

The system’s sleek and space-efficient design includes a powerful mini projector that uses less than half a liter of space for installation. This projector, combined with intelligent software and a fully darkened side window, ensures optimal image display. The compact system can be seamlessly integrated into the vehicle, with engineers already working on making future versions even more compact.

The content displayed is highly personalized, thanks to Continental’s collaboration with the banbutsu digital ecosystem. The eTravel. companion software component tailors the experience based on the driver’s habits, weather, and sensor data. For example, if the driver is heading to a sports event, the system will display their team’s logo on the side window, offering a personal touch before they even get in the vehicle. The system can also provide charging information and route suggestions, enhancing the driving experience.

“By integrating tailored recommendations and facilitating the addition of new partners and content, our platform offers personalized and relevant user experiences,” said Michael Wolters, managing director of banbutsu.

Continental’s latest innovations will be showcased at a private exhibit in Central Plaza, Las Vegas, from January 7–10, 2025, with a special media event scheduled for January 7.
