BP Taps CRH Veteran Albert Manifold as Next Board Chair

IN BRIEF) BP has appointed Albert Manifold—former CEO of CRH plc—as its next chair. He will join the board on 1 September and take over from Helge Lund on 1 October. Manifold’s tenure at CRH saw significant portfolio reshaping, capital discipline, and cash‑flow growth. He serves as a non‑executive director at LyondellBasell and Mercury Engineering and holds an MBA and a Master in Business Studies from Dublin City University. (PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 21-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ —  BP has named Albert Manifold as its new chair, succeeding Helge Lund. Manifold will join BP’s board as a non‑executive director and chair‑elect on 1 September, before officially assuming the chairmanship on 1 October, at which time Lund will step down from both roles.

Manifold brings a decade of CEO experience from CRH plc, where he led the company from January 2014 to December 2024, transforming its portfolio and driving strong growth through disciplined capital allocation, cost management, and robust cash‑flow generation. He currently serves as a non‑executive director at LyondellBasell—a NYSE‑listed chemicals producer—and at Mercury Engineering, a major privately held engineering consultancy.

Reflecting on his appointment, Manifold said that he is honoured to lead one of the world’s premier energy companies and is eager to work with BP’s board and executive team to accelerate strategic delivery and enhance sustainable value for shareholders.

Manifold is a Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Accountant, holding both an MBA and a Master in Business Studies from Dublin City University. He will also continue to advise CRH and Clayton, Dubilier & Rice in a non‑executive capacity.
