(PRESS RELEASE) FARNBOROUGH, 6-Jan-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Kevin Camplin, an employee at BAE Systems Air, has been honored with an MBE for his exceptional contributions to Mountain Rescue in Lancashire. Since joining BAE Systems in 2002 after leaving the armed forces, Kevin has made significant strides in his engineering career, initially working in the Tornado development department. In the same year, he embarked on a completely different path, volunteering for Mountain Rescue, a commitment he has maintained for over two decades.

An avid outdoors enthusiast, Kevin’s passion for activities such as walking, scrambling, and mountain biking naturally led him to Mountain Rescue. “Helping others is incredibly rewarding,” he says. “It’s always fulfilling to rescue someone in need.”

Throughout his 22 years at BAE Systems, Kevin has successfully balanced his professional role, now as a Logistics Team Leader at Samlesbury, with his Mountain Rescue work. He has also taken on leadership roles within the rescue team, including serving as a team leader and, more recently, as the Mid Pennines Search and Rescue Operations Lead.

Kevin has participated in countless callouts, including some highly challenging and high-profile incidents. “It’s always a team effort,” he reflects. “It’s an honor to work alongside such dedicated and like-minded individuals.”

Kevin attributes much of his success in balancing work and volunteer efforts to BAE Systems’ unwavering support. Thanks to the company’s special leave policy, Kevin has been able to attend numerous callouts without compromising his work commitments. “Every manager I’ve had at BAE Systems has been incredibly supportive. Without their backing, I wouldn’t have been able to contribute to saving lives.”

When Kevin learned he was to be awarded an MBE for his 20+ years of service, he was both humbled and grateful. “It’s still a bit of a shock,” he admits. “Mountain Rescue is a volunteer service, and there are over 4,000 other rescuers doing incredible work. To be chosen among them is truly an honor.”

Kevin is set to receive his MBE at an investiture ceremony in 2025.
