Ray Farris Appointed Chief Economist at Eastspring Investments to Guide Global Economic Strategy

(IN BRIEF) Prudential plc has appointed Ray Farris as the Chief Economist for Eastspring Investments, its asset management arm. Farris, who brings over 30 years of experience in economics and strategy, will provide macroeconomic analysis to guide Prudential’s and Eastspring’s investment strategies. Based in Singapore, he will report to Eastspring’s Chief Investment Officer, Vis Nayar. Farris previously held leadership roles at Credit Suisse, including Global Chief Economist and Chief Investment Officer for the Americas. His appointment comes at a time of increasing global economic uncertainty.

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 6-Jan-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Prudential plc (“Prudential”) has announced the appointment of Ray Farris as the Chief Economist of its asset management division, Eastspring Investments (“Eastspring”). This newly created position marks an important step for both Prudential and Eastspring, as Farris will be responsible for delivering economic analysis and insights that will guide investment strategies and decisions.

In his role as Prudential’s first-ever Chief Economist, Farris will focus on providing macroeconomic insights that reflect the evolving global economic and geopolitical landscape. His expertise will help shape a unified perspective for the organization, aligning Prudential’s economic outlook with current trends. At Eastspring, he will leverage in-depth economic data and market insights to support investment and asset allocation strategies. Based in Singapore, Farris will report to Vis Nayar, Eastspring’s Chief Investment Officer.

With over 30 years of experience in economics and strategy, Farris brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. He has led research efforts across multiple continents, including a 22-year tenure at Credit Suisse where he held several leadership roles. Most recently, he served as the Global Chief Economist and Chief Investment Officer for the Americas in New York. Farris also spent over two decades in Singapore, where he was the Chief Investment Officer for South Asia and Head of Asia Economics and Fixed Income Strategy at Credit Suisse. His career began in 1991 in Hong Kong, where he was Head of Economics and Equity Strategy at Crosby Securities.

Farris holds a Master of Science in Finance from London Business School and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of North Carolina.
