ANDRITZ to Upgrade Solingen Waste-to-Energy Plant with TurboSorp Emission Control

(IN BRIEF) ANDRITZ will equip TBS’s Solingen waste-to-energy plant with its TurboSorp flue gas cleaning technology, reducing key pollutants to meet Germany’s rigorous air-quality standards and extend the plant’s service life. The modernization, valued but undisclosed, is slated from November 2025 through March 2027 and is included in ANDRITZ’s Q1 2025 orders. Project leaders highlight its role in cutting emissions, enhancing sustainability, and leveraging ANDRITZ’s proven European track record.

(PRESS RELEASE) GRAZ, 25-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — ANDRITZ has been selected by Technische Betriebe Solingen (TBS) to modernize the flue gas cleaning system at its Solingen waste-to-energy plant. Incorporating ANDRITZ’s TurboSorp technology, the retrofit will slash emissions of sulfur oxides, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen fluoride, dioxins, furans, heavy metals, and mercury—bringing the facility into full compliance with Germany’s strict air-quality regulations and advancing the region’s sustainability objectives. The undisclosed contract value is recorded in ANDRITZ’s first-quarter 2025 order intake.

Patrick Kosiolek, Section Manager at TBS, noted, “Partnering with ANDRITZ allows us to extend our plant’s operational life while dramatically reducing harmful emissions—improving local air quality and securing long-term, eco-responsible operations for Solingen.”

Work will commence in November 2025, with construction and commissioning concluding by March 2027. “This project exemplifies ANDRITZ’s commitment to sustainable innovation,” said Andreas Arizzoli, Vice President of Clean Air Technologies. “Our proven TurboSorp systems deliver measurable environmental benefits, and we’re proud to collaborate with TBS on this upgrade.”

ANDRITZ’s extensive deployment of TurboSorp solutions across Europe underlines its proven reliability and efficiency in industrial emission control.
