Oxford, UK, 15-8-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — AmeyWebber joint venture selected to manage and maintain Dallas’ highways

A joint venture between Amey and Ferrovial sister company Webber has been awarded a contract by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to manage and maintain the major interstate highways in and around Dallas.

Amey’s internationally recognised asset management capabilities coupled with Webber’s significant experience of highways operations in Texas will ensure that the network can effectively meet the demands of a growing economy and Texan population.

The contract, valued at £11m ($19m) is for an initial period of two years and has the potential to be extended for up to four years.

Amey’s chief executive, Mel Ewell said: “This win spearheads Amey’s growth in America and is part of our continued expansion overseas, complementing recent growth in the Middle East and Australia.  We look forward to working with our sister company Webber and with the Texas Department of Transportation bringing UK best practice to manage and improve the road networks around Dallas.”

The TxDOT commission is a performance based maintenance contract for the regional interstate network around the city of Dallas. It covers the interstate corridors forming a triangle between the most populous cities in Texas:

• I-35 Dallas to San Antonio (via Austin) North/South West
• I-45 Dallas to Houston North/South East
• I-10 San Antonio to Houston West/East
