Volvo Trucks Strengthens European Market Leadership in Heavy-Duty Segment with 19 Percent Share in 2025

(IN BRIEF) Volvo Trucks secured its position as Europe’s leading heavy-duty truck manufacturer for the second year running in 2025, increasing its market share to 19.0% across the EU, the UK, Norway and Switzerland. Strong demand in major markets such as the UK, France and Germany, combined with the success of the Volvo FH Aero, played a central role in this achievement. With nearly 33,000 FH Aero trucks ordered during the year, Volvo Trucks benefited from customer interest in improved fuel efficiency, advanced technology and high operational reliability. The company’s leadership in Europe complements its strong global standing and aligns with its long-term strategy to drive the transition toward fossil-free transport through a mix of electric and renewable-fuel technologies.

(PRESS RELEASE) GOTHENBURG, 27-Jan-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Volvo Trucks has reinforced its position as Europe’s leading manufacturer of heavy-duty trucks for the second consecutive year, achieving a market share of 19.0% in 2025. The result marks a notable increase from 17.9% in 2024 and underscores the company’s strong momentum across key European markets. Registrations were particularly strong in the United Kingdom, France, Poland, Germany and Lithuania, highlighting Volvo Trucks’ broad geographic reach and sustained customer demand.

A major contributor to this performance has been the success of Volvo’s long-haul offering, especially the FH Aero model. Designed with a strong focus on aerodynamics and advanced technology, the FH Aero features innovations such as digital camera mirrors and refined airflow management. These improvements enable fuel efficiency gains of up to 7% compared with the previous Volvo FH model. Customer response has been strong, with nearly 33,000 FH Aero trucks ordered across Europe during 2025.

Volvo Trucks’ leadership position reflects its focus on delivering reliability, efficiency and safety to transport operators. The company’s product portfolio is built to support high uptime and lower operating costs, attributes that have become increasingly important for European hauliers facing rising fuel prices and stricter environmental requirements. The FH Aero, in particular, has emerged as a flagship vehicle for long-distance transport, with customers reporting strong performance and tangible fuel savings.

The company’s success in Europe is mirrored globally. In 2025, Volvo Trucks ranked either as the market leader or the second-largest heavy truck brand in 30 countries worldwide, reinforcing its status as one of the most influential players in the global commercial vehicle industry.

Alongside its commercial achievements, Volvo Trucks continues to push forward its long-term sustainability agenda. The company is pursuing a three-path technology strategy aimed at achieving net-zero emissions by 2040. This approach combines battery-electric vehicles, fuel cell electric trucks, and combustion engines powered by renewable fuels such as green hydrogen, biogas, biodiesel and hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO). By developing multiple technologies in parallel, Volvo Trucks aims to offer transport solutions that meet varying operational needs while supporting the decarbonisation of road transport.

Europe, as defined in this context, includes the European Union along with the United Kingdom, Norway and Switzerland, reflecting the full scope of the region in which Volvo Trucks secured its market-leading position.
