BAE Systems Awarded $450 Million Contract to Deliver 44 Additional CV90MkIIIC Vehicles for Denmark’s Modernised Armoured Fleet

(IN BRIEF) BAE Systems has been awarded a $450 million contract by Denmark’s defence procurement authority, DALO, to supply 44 additional CV90MkIIIC infantry fighting vehicles, expanding the Royal Danish Army’s future fleet to 159 vehicles. The new order replaces Denmark’s planned mid-life upgrade programme for its existing CV9035DK fleet and reflects the country’s decision to fully adopt the latest-generation CV90 platform. The vehicles will feature a new CV90 turret and advanced battlefield capabilities aligned with recent upgrades adopted by the Netherlands. Danish Army Commander Major General Peter Boysen said the acquisition is critical to strengthening combat power within the heavy brigade. BAE Systems Hägglunds General Manager Tommy Gustafsson-Rask said the order demonstrates Denmark’s trust in the CV90 and supports interoperability with allied forces. The CV90 family remains one of Europe’s most widely deployed IFV platforms, with 1,900 vehicles ordered in 17 variants, used by 10 nations and proven in Afghanistan, Ukraine and other missions.

(PRESS RELEASE) AUSTRALIA, 21-Nov-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — BAE Systems has secured a new contract from the Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) to deliver 44 additional CV90MkIIIC infantry fighting vehicles, in a deal valued at approximately $450 million, including spares, logistics, training and long-term support services. This latest procurement expands upon the 2024 order for 115 CV90s, bringing the Royal Danish Army’s future fleet to 159 CV90MkIIIC vehicles. The decision also replaces Denmark’s previously planned mid-life upgrade programme for its existing CV9035DK fleet, signalling a strategic shift toward deploying the newest-generation technology across its armoured units.

In announcing the decision, Major General Peter Boysen, Commander of the Danish Army, emphasised the importance of rapidly strengthening Denmark’s mechanised capability:
“The infantry fighting vehicle is a crucial element of combat power in the heavy brigade. It is therefore essential that we acquire a consolidated fleet as quickly as possible. By replacing the current 44 IFVs with new vehicles, the Army will field 159 state-of-the-art systems by the end of 2030.”

The CV9035MkIIIC configuration selected by Denmark is built to the same advanced standard as the latest mid-life upgrade programme for the Netherlands. Equipped with an all-new CV90 turret, the vehicle incorporates major enhancements in design, firepower, survivability and digital functionality. Developed from decades of operational experience, battlefield data, and continuous improvements, the CV90MkIIIC also ensures a high level of interoperability with other nations that deploy the platform.

Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, General Manager at BAE Systems Hägglunds, welcomed Denmark’s commitment to the platform:
“This order highlights the strong confidence the Danish Armed Forces have in the CV90’s capabilities. We remain committed to delivering advanced, reliable solutions that evolve with their operational requirements. The CV9035MkIIIC will place Denmark at the forefront of modern defence capabilities and ensure seamless cooperation with allied nations.”

BAE Systems’ CV90 family is one of the world’s leading infantry fighting vehicle platforms in the 20–38-ton class. It supports a broad portfolio of weapon systems, enabling all-target engagement and modern digital battlefield integration. Across its variants, more than 1,900 CV90 vehicles have been ordered, covering 17 different configurations and accumulating over eight million operational kilometres. The system is currently fielded by 10 European nations, including eight NATO members, and has seen action in Afghanistan and Ukraine, as well as participation in missions in Liberia.
