Great Wall Motors’ Smart Cockpit Display Receives 5-Star Eye Comfort Certification from TÜV Rheinland

(IN BRIEF) TÜV Rheinland Greater China has presented a 5-Star Eye Comfort Certification to the in-vehicle display used in Great Wall Motors’ latest models, underscoring advancements in smart cockpit ergonomics and visual safety. The display stood out in areas such as low blue light emission, flicker-free technology, ambient light adaptability, and motion sickness mitigation, meeting stringent requirements across four performance categories. Great Wall Motors plans to integrate the display into future vehicles, enhancing user experience and comfort. The certification ceremony highlighted the deepening partnership between the two companies, which have worked together since 2007 in areas like regulatory compliance, component testing, and global market access. This recognition further strengthens Great Wall Motors’ commitment to health-conscious innovation and international competitiveness.

(PRESS RELEASE) GREATER CHINA, 25-JuL-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — TÜV Rheinland Greater China has awarded a 5-Star Eye Comfort Certification to the in-vehicle display (model: COG-PVLHZ0062-01) used in the latest models from Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. This distinction marks a notable advancement in smart cockpit display technology, affirming the display’s ability to deliver a safer and more visually comfortable user experience. Great Wall Motors will gradually incorporate this certified display into a broad range of its upcoming vehicle models.

The certification was formally presented on July 21, with key figures present, including Geng Weifeng, Deputy General Manager of Great Wall Motors’ Technology Center; Huang Yuxin, Senior Vice President of TÜV Rheinland Greater China Mobility; and Jay Yang, Senior Vice President of TÜV Rheinland Greater China Business Stream Products.

Geng Weifeng praised the longstanding partnership with TÜV Rheinland, highlighting its critical role in driving innovation through trusted testing and certification services. He expressed Great Wall Motors’ ambition to expand collaboration with strategic partners to build intelligent hardware and software that enhance the driving experience.

As smart cockpits evolve into complex human-machine interfaces, display quality has become vital to user wellbeing. TÜV Rheinland’s Eye Comfort Certification rates cockpit displays on a 3- to 5-star scale across four performance areas: image quality, ambient light management, visual care technology, and user guidance. The Great Wall Motors display achieved the top-tier 5-star rating by excelling in every category.

Designed with low blue light emission at the hardware level and equipped with flicker-free lighting, the display reduces visual fatigue without sacrificing image fidelity. This design significantly lessens the risk of myopia and eye strain, creating a more natural and relaxing viewing experience, particularly for long interactions such as video streaming or navigating vehicle systems.

Its visual adaptability also sets it apart. The screen adjusts brightness and color temperature dynamically based on ambient lighting conditions, offering consistently soft and glare-free visuals, whether in direct sunlight, at night, or during prolonged travel. High performance in surface reflectivity and contrast under changing light ensures minimal disruption to visibility.

Another notable innovation is the motion sickness mitigation feature. By delivering real-time visual indicators in response to sudden acceleration or braking, the display helps passengers orient themselves and feel more stable, reducing discomfort associated with motion sickness.

Commenting on the achievement, Huang Yuxin noted that TÜV Rheinland and Great Wall Motors have maintained a strong collaboration since 2007, working together across numerous areas including regulatory consulting, wireless product market access, component testing, and safety certifications. In April 2025, this partnership expanded into healthy cockpit display development. The new 5-Star certification not only validates Great Wall Motors’ focus on user-centric design but also paves the way for broader innovation and stronger global brand positioning through continued cooperation.
