2025 Inovyn Awards set for October announcement highlighting innovation and sustainability in the vinyl industry

(IN BRIEF) INEOS Inovyn will announce the winners of the 2025 Inovyn Awards on 9 October, following the largest and most globally diverse edition since the awards began in 2001. A record 113 projects were submitted from 27 countries, with entries spanning from local businesses and NGOs to major multinationals. Categories include Reaching Net Zero, Circularity, and Performance & Design, with sustainability-related projects accounting for more than two-thirds of submissions. Due to economic conditions, the Düsseldorf ceremony has been replaced with a virtual announcement. Judges praised the high quality and wide range of entries, noting the important role vinyl innovation plays in creating sustainable and socially impactful solutions.

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 22-Sep-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — INEOS Inovyn has confirmed that the winners of the 2025 Inovyn Awards will be announced on 9 October, following the most globally diverse edition in the event’s history. The triennial awards, established in 2001 to coincide with the ‘K Fair’ in Germany, celebrate innovation and sustainable solutions that highlight the essential role vinyl plays in everyday life.

This year’s competition attracted 113 projects from 27 countries across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and, for the first time, Africa. Submissions came from a wide range of participants, including academic organisations, NGOs, local businesses, additive producers, and multinational corporations. The categories—Reaching Net Zero, Circularity, and Performance & Design—once again underscored the industry’s strong focus on sustainability, with over two-thirds of all entries falling under projects that promote greener, more responsible innovation.

In recognition of the difficult global economic climate, this year’s awards ceremony will not take place in Düsseldorf as in previous years. Instead, the winners will be announced virtually on 9 October, with runners-up revealed earlier in the month.

Arnaud Valenduc, Business Director at INEOS Inovyn, highlighted the importance of the awards: “These awards showcase the vital role vinyl plays in modern life. With 113 project submissions from 27 countries, the standard this year has been exceptional. They are the most globally diverse in our Inovyn Awards history and reflect their continuing popularity. At a time when we face significant challenges, these projects demonstrate how our industry is constantly innovating and embracing change.”

The judging panel for the 2025 edition included industry experts and thought leaders: Richard Thommeret, polymers specialist; Elisa Storace, curator at the Fondazione Museo Kartell in Milan; Dr. Jason Leadbitter, former chair of the British Plastics Federation Sustainability and VinylPlus Circular Committees; and Miguel Angel Prieto Arranz, Director of Specialty Chemicals at Cefic.

Judge Elisa Storace praised the creativity of the submissions: “I’m impressed by the range of this year’s projects, from innovative pipe and clothing applications to creating societal value. Vinyl is everywhere in our daily lives, and these projects show its versatility and potential for positive social impact. Innovation will be key for the industry’s transition to a low-carbon future, and the Inovyn Awards highlight how vinyl can help us imagine a more sustainable world.”

Now in its ninth edition, the Inovyn Awards continue to provide a global platform for pioneering ideas that drive performance, circularity, and sustainable transformation in the vinyl industry.
