ZF to Showcase Innovative CeTrax 2 e-Drive and Automated Transport Solutions at Mobility Move 2025

Premiere at mobility move: CeTrax 2 electric central drive with a continuous power output of 210 kW.

(IN BRIEF) ZF will present its latest innovations for public transport at the Mobility Move conference and trade fair in Berlin from April 1-3. The company will showcase the German debut of its CeTrax 2 electric central drive, which offers improved performance, lower consumption, and enhanced efficiency for city buses. The CeTrax 2 features a modular design, including a 3-speed gearbox, SiC inverter, and electric motor, and is suitable for buses weighing up to 19 tons. ZF will also highlight its expertise in automated driving solutions, demonstrated through the RABus project in Mannheim and Friedrichshafen. Markus Eisele, ZF’s electric drive development lead, will discuss the efficiency of the new electric modular drive system at the E-Bus Forum 2.

(PRESS RELEASE) FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, 25-Feb-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — At the upcoming Mobility Move conference and trade fair, held from April 1-3 in Berlin, ZF will showcase its latest technologies aimed at advancing decarbonization and enhancing efficiency in public transport. As a key player in the event, ZF will be presenting its innovations for city bus manufacturers and fleet operators at Booth 66, while also participating in the exhibition’s lecture program.

One of the major highlights at Mobility Move will be the German debut of ZF’s newly developed CeTrax 2 electric central drive. The next-generation e-drive brings substantial improvements over its predecessor, including enhanced performance, reduced consumption, and the integration of advanced components such as the electric motor, SiC inverter, and a 3-speed gearbox. This modular electric drive system is designed for buses with a gross weight of up to 19 tons, delivering 210 kW of continuous output and a peak torque of 8,700 Nm. Despite these performance upgrades, the installation space required remains similar to the earlier model, ensuring compatibility with ZF’s axles. The CeTrax 2 also benefits from ZF’s expertise in software, especially in areas like cybersecurity, positioning it as a forward-thinking solution for the future of public transport.

In addition to showcasing the CeTrax 2, ZF will highlight its expertise in the development of automated driving solutions. The company provides comprehensive hardware and software services that help manufacturers transition to automated and highly automated vehicles. ZF’s work in this area was demonstrated in the RABus project, a state-funded initiative in Mannheim and Friedrichshafen. ZF Mobility Solutions played a key role in route selection, evaluation, and mapping, as well as providing the necessary expertise in highly automated driving functions and vehicle platform approval processes.

ZF will be featured at Mobility Move 2025 at Booth 66, and on April 2, Markus Eisele, who leads the development of electric drives for commercial vehicles at ZF, will present at the E-Bus Forum 2 at 1:15 p.m. He will discuss the efficiency benefits of the new electric modular drive system.
