Two Loughborough University students made the The Tab’s Future 100 list

Leicestershire, UK, 22-May-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — Two Loughborough University students have made the Future 100 list compiled by international youth news network, The Tab.

The list, described as ‘the top 100 women to watch in 2017’, highlights women at UK universities who are set to achieve incredible things. Over 215,000 votes were submitted by fellow students. Carys Page, Consent Workshop Co-ordinator at Loughborough Students’ Union (LSU) came 57th in the list for implementing over 40 consent workshops across campus.

She won three Students’ Union awards this year: Welfare and Diversity Campaign of the Year for Consent Week, Welfare and Diversity Committee Member of the Year and Welfare and Diversity Team of the Year for Women’s Network, which she chaired for one year.

Currently, she works 15 hours a week as the Consent Workshop Co-ordinator, which she does alongside sitting on the Union Affairs committee and her politics degree.

Speaking about her result, she said: “I am truly honoured to have been included on this list and could never have imagined it when I started university. It’s incredible to have been able to talk about such an important issue.

“I am grateful to both Loughborough University and Loughborough Students’ Union for all their support during my time here. I could never have achieved what I have without them.”

Kathryn Freeman, who studies English and Drama, was named 55th on the list. She was formerly Hall Chair and Welfare and Diversity representative for Loughborough’s Butler Court student accommodation, leading over 250 freshers.

The nomination was made in recognition of her voluntary work as project leader on two LSU Action projects supporting people with disabilities and dementia.

She has served on the Action committee for two years, previously as Equality and Diversity Officer and current Vice Chair, and in 2016 picked up the Action Heart award for her achievements.

She said: “I am absolutely humbled and honoured to be included in the list, and thankful for all of the opportunities – especially those within LSU Action.

“It is truly wonderful to see inspirational young women all over the country being recognised for their amazing efforts.”
