(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 4-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Transport for London (TfL) is relaunching its successful Chatty Cabins initiative on the IFS Cloud Cable Car as part of Loneliness Awareness Week, running from Monday, 9 June to Friday, 13 June. This initiative, which originally launched in February, encourages Londoners and visitors to engage in meaningful conversations during the 20-minute round trip across the River Thames, between Greenwich Peninsula and the Royal Docks.

The goal of Chatty Cabins is to combat loneliness in the capital by sparking conversations among people who have not met before, helping them connect through discussions about their favourite London experiences and the best ways to travel in the city. The initiative is part of Marmalade Trust’s Loneliness Awareness Week, a campaign that aims to reduce the stigma surrounding loneliness and encourage open discussions within communities.

The Chatty Cabins will operate every day during Loneliness Awareness Week, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Each ticket includes a free round trip on the IFS Cloud Cable Car and a hot drink for participants. Tickets can be reserved through Eventbrite.

Seb Dance, Deputy Mayor for Transport, commented, “I’m thrilled that TfL’s Chatty Cabins initiative is returning this month. It’s already proven to be a fantastic way for Londoners and visitors to come together, share their experiences, and build connections. I encourage everyone to take part and help us make London a more inclusive and welcoming place.”

Trish Ashton, Director of Rail and Sponsored Services for TfL, said, “After the overwhelming success of Chatty Cabins when we launched it in February, we are excited to bring it back. The feedback has been incredibly positive, with many participants saying they’ve stayed in touch with the people they met. We’re excited to continue to bring people together.”

Hannah Beatrice, Campaign Manager for Loneliness Awareness Week at Marmalade Trust, added, “Loneliness is something that many of us will experience, yet it remains difficult to talk about. We’re delighted to partner with TfL on the Chatty Cabins initiative, as it provides a great way to reduce the stigma around loneliness and foster connections among people in London.”

Alongside Chatty Cabins, Arriva London and Keolis Amey will host various community events across the London Overground and DLR in support of Loneliness Awareness Week, including activities at South Norwood Community Kitchen and Togetherness Café at Stratford Library. More details about the week’s events can be found on the Loneliness Awareness Week website.
