(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 11-Feb-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — As part of National Apprenticeship Week 2025 (10-16 February), Transport for London (TfL) is offering a diverse range of apprenticeship opportunities to Londoners, aimed at providing long-term career prospects across multiple areas of the transport network. With new apprenticeship roles starting in September 2025, TfL is committed to creating 175 places across its organization, covering key areas such as engineering, technology, data, sustainability, and roles supporting major projects.

The latest apprenticeship offerings will include positions ranging from Level 2 to Level 6, with apprenticeships in sectors such as asset maintenance, transport planning, and IT solutions. These programs offer a unique opportunity for individuals to learn on the job while gaining industry-recognized qualifications. Moreover, TfL is increasing accessibility to apprenticeships by offering schemes to 16-year-olds in areas like Dial-a-Ride, IT Solutions, and Transport Planning.

In total, TfL has provided 9,700 apprenticeship roles since 2009, contributing significantly to London’s transport infrastructure and creating job opportunities within the supply chain. Notably, TfL has seen a rise in diversity within its apprenticeship schemes, with a 34% increase in women joining engineering apprenticeships in 2024, and a rise in those declaring a disability. This reflects TfL’s ongoing commitment to improving diversity and inclusion within the transport sector.

Fiona Brunskill, Chief People Officer at TfL, emphasized the value of apprenticeships, stating, “Apprenticeships are an amazing way for people to earn while they learn the necessary skills for future careers.” She encouraged individuals of all backgrounds to consider apprenticeships, not just school leavers but anyone seeking to develop new skills and make a lasting impact on the city’s development.

TfL will also hold a special event on 28 February 2025 to help potential applicants learn more about the different roles offered and hear from current apprentices about their experiences. Additionally, TfL’s supplier skills program is expanding apprenticeship opportunities across the UK, creating valuable links between apprenticeship candidates and companies nationwide.
