Telia Appoints Bjørn Ivar Moen as New Head of Telia Norway to Lead Next Phase of Growth

(IN BRIEF) Telia Company has appointed Bjørn Ivar Moen as Senior Vice President and Head of Telia Norway, effective January 2026. Moen, with 25 years of experience in telecommunications, including his recent tenure as CEO of Telenor Sweden, will join the Group Executive Management team. He will succeed Stein-Erik Vellan, who is leaving Telia to pursue another opportunity, and an acting Head of Telia Norway will be appointed in the interim.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 30-Jan-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Telia Company has announced the appointment of Bjørn Ivar Moen as Senior Vice President and Head of Telia Norway, effective no later than January 1, 2026. Moen will also become a member of the company’s Group Executive Management team. This move follows the decision of Stein-Erik Vellan, the current Senior Vice President and Head of Telia Norway, to pursue a new opportunity outside the company. Vellan will remain in his current role until at least July 31, 2025.

Bjørn Ivar Moen brings with him a wealth of experience, having spent 25 years in the telecommunications industry, primarily with Telenor. His most recent role was CEO of Telenor Sweden from 2021 to 2024, and he has held various leadership positions throughout his career, including CEO of Telenor Broadcast and Canal Digital, acting CEO of Telenor Norway, and Chief Marketing Officer for Mobile/Consumer and Business at Telenor Norway. Additionally, Moen served as CEO of Allente, a joint venture between Telenor and Viaplay Group.

Bjørn Ivar Moen will report directly to Patrik Hofbauer. Following Vellan’s departure, an acting Head of Telia Norway will be appointed to manage the business until Moen officially takes over.
