(PRESS RELEASE) BUSSNANG, 4-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Stadler has inaugurated a new production facility in Białystok, Poland, where it will manufacture DC power converters for rail vehicles, aiming to produce over 500 units annually. This new plant will serve as a competence center for traction power converters across the Stadler Group, marking an expansion in Stadler’s European footprint and creating up to 250 jobs in the Podlasie region.

Specializing in traction and auxiliary power converters as well as battery chargers, the Białystok facility will provide vital components for urban transport solutions, including trams, metro systems, and custom rail vehicles like rack-and-pinion and narrow-gauge trains. With these products, the plant will supply other Stadler manufacturing sites, and by mid-2026, more than 1,000 vehicles worldwide will be equipped with Stadler’s converters.

Spanning 7,000 square meters, the facility is equipped with cutting-edge technology to simulate real-world operational conditions for comprehensive power converter testing. The site includes production zones, a dedicated laboratory, warehouse, office space, and social amenities, positioning it as a key player in Stadler’s global manufacturing network.

The new plant has already recruited around 100 employees, with plans to reach 250. Stadler is actively seeking experts in fields like construction, electrical engineering, control systems, software, and power electronics to support this expansion. According to Wioleta Pyt, Operations Director at Stadler Converter, the Białystok facility will not only contribute to Stadler’s production but also collaborate with local suppliers and educational institutions, such as the Białystok University of Technology, to develop regional expertise and strengthen the local supply chain.

Stadler’s latest investment further cements its commitment to Poland, where it has maintained a presence since 2006. Alongside Białystok, Stadler operates facilities in Siedlce, producing rail vehicles for domestic and international markets, and in Środa Wielkopolska, which specializes in tram steel carbodies. With nearly 1,500 employees across its Polish sites, Stadler has delivered over 980 rail vehicles for 17 countries, with roughly 70% of its Polish production focused on exports.
