(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 13-Dec-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Skanska, in partnership with Coffman Specialties, has secured a contract with the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority to undertake the Interstate 15 (I-15) Corridor Freight and Express Lanes Project in Ontario, California. The contract’s total value is USD 389 million, with Skanska’s share amounting to USD 336 million (approximately SEK 3.5 billion), which will be included in the company’s US order bookings for the fourth quarter of 2024.

This initiative aims to enhance the I-15 corridor by constructing two new express lanes along the median of the San Bernardino stretch. The project involves the development of 17.4 kilometers of price-managed tolled express lanes in both the northbound and southbound directions. These additions are designed to accommodate high traffic volumes and a significant proportion of interstate truck traffic.

The improvements will create a seamless connection to the Riverside County I-15 express lanes, alleviating traffic congestion, improving overall traffic flow, and reducing travel times for commuters and freight transport. This infrastructure upgrade is expected to bring substantial benefits to one of California’s busiest transportation routes.

Construction activities are scheduled to commence in January 2025, with the project slated for completion in July 2028. This development underscores Skanska’s ongoing commitment to addressing critical infrastructure needs while enhancing mobility and efficiency for road users.
