SGS opens new scanner site in the port of Douala, Cameroon

On October 14, Cameroon’s finance minister Mr. Alamine Ousmane Mey inaugurated a new scanner site in the port of Douala.

GENEVA, 02-Nov-2016 — /EuropaWire/ — The new site, financed and deployed by SGS, consists of 2 high throughput scanners with a cumulative capacity of 300 scans per hour. This new, non-intrusive equipment will replace a mobile scanner that SGS deployed in 2006.

Interfacing with SGS D-TECT, SGS’s innovative universal image analysis solution, the new scanners will perform 100% scanning on all containers imported and exported through Douala, making it the first port in the world to implement 100% scanning.

SGS D-TECT includes remote analysis and automated threat detection features that will facilitate trade while enabling Cameroon Customs to target high risk shipments that require further control.

SGS was mandated to secure the port of Douala against regular fraud and increase security threat detection capabilities in Cameroon in 2015.
