RS Lease to Expand Fleet with Siemens Mobility’s Vectron Locomotives in New Agreement

(IN BRIEF) RS Lease has signed a framework agreement with Siemens Mobility to purchase up to 65 Vectron locomotives, with an immediate delivery of 30 units and an option for 35 more. These new Vectron Multi-System and Dual Mode locomotives will strengthen RS Lease’s ability to provide modern and efficient rail services across Central Europe. The locomotives, capable of 200 km/h and 6.4 MW output, will be manufactured at Siemens Mobility’s Munich-Allach plant, with chassis sourced from Graz. This agreement will potentially expand RS Lease’s current fleet of 90 Vectron MS locomotives to 155. RS Lease is also negotiating an extension of its full-service maintenance agreement with Siemens to cover the new locomotives.

The agreement includes the immediate delivery of 30 Vectron Multi-System (MS) locomotives, with an option for an additional 35 Vectron MS and Dual Mode locomotives. This move strengthens RS Lease’s ability to provide modern, efficient rail services throughout Central Europe.

Tibor Cunderlik, CEO of RS Lease, emphasized the benefits of the ongoing strategic partnership with Siemens, which has enabled them to offer technologically advanced locomotives, improving railway services and enhancing rail traffic safety across the region. The new Vectron locomotives, capable of reaching speeds of up to 200 km/h with a maximum output of 6.4 MW, will be built at Siemens Mobility’s factory in Munich-Allach, with the chassis sourced from Graz. RS Lease currently operates a fleet of around 90 Vectron MS locomotives, and with this new agreement, the fleet could grow to 155 units. Additionally, RS Lease is in discussions to extend its full-service maintenance agreement with Siemens Mobility to cover the new vehicles.
