Roos Groep and Leica Geosystems Unveil World’s First Electric Slipform Paver with Advanced Precision Control

(IN BRIEF) Roos Groep, in partnership with Leica Geosystems, has developed the world’s first fully electric slipform paver, enhanced with advanced 3D machine control technology. This innovation marks a significant step in sustainable construction, offering precise, fossil fuel-free paving solutions. The machine’s first project, creating a bicycle path in the Netherlands, showcases its potential to reduce the construction sector’s carbon footprint while maintaining high accuracy and efficiency.

(PRESS RELEASE) REUSEL/ODENSE, 3-Sep-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — In a landmark development for the construction industry, Roos Groep, in partnership with Leica Geosystems, has introduced the world’s first fully electric slipform paver, enhanced by cutting-edge 3D machine control technology. This innovative machine represents a significant step forward in sustainable construction, offering a fossil fuel-free solution that integrates advanced precision and efficiency.

Roos Groep’s new slipform paver, designed with collaboration from industry leaders, combines zero-emission technology with Leica Geosystems’ MC1 3D machine control system. This system ensures millimetre-level accuracy and optimises the paver’s energy efficiency, reducing operational downtime and enhancing overall productivity. The machine’s first project, a bicycle path in Reusel, Netherlands, showcases its capabilities in delivering precision and sustainability.

This project was made possible through collaboration with partners such as Statec, Staad-Fusion, Hightide, Hydrocan Engineering, and others, who contributed to the design, automation, and certification of the machine.

Tom Roos, CEO of Roos Groep, emphasized the company’s vision of electrifying nearly all concrete pavement jobs, significantly reducing the construction sector’s carbon footprint. Neil Williams, Machine Control Director at Leica Geosystems, highlighted the importance of integrating advanced technology with sustainable practices, setting a new standard for the industry.
