Rheinmetall to Transition Labour Director Role from Dr Ursula Biernert-Kloß to Dr Vera Saal in September 2025

(IN BRIEF) Rheinmetall AG will see a leadership change in September 2025 as Dr Ursula Biernert-Kloß steps down from the Executive Board following strategic differences. CEO Armin Papperger will temporarily take over as Labour Director until Dr Vera Saal, a 15-year HR veteran at Rheinmetall, assumes the position. Currently Executive Vice President Labour Relations, Dr Saal’s extensive company experience and legal background position her to guide Rheinmetall’s human resources and labour strategy in the years ahead.

(PRESS RELEASE) DÜSSELDORF, 14-Aug-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Rheinmetall AG has announced an upcoming change in its Executive Board leadership. Following mutual agreement with the Supervisory Board, Dr Ursula Biernert-Kloß will step down from her role as Labour Director and Executive Board member on 31 August 2025. The decision comes after differences in views on strategic direction. Supervisory Board Chairman Ulrich Grillo thanked Dr Biernert-Kloß for her commitment and service to the Group, extending best wishes for her future endeavors.

To ensure a smooth transition, Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger will take on the responsibilities of Labour Director on an interim basis from 1 September 2025 until the appointment of her successor, Dr Vera Saal.

Dr Saal, 47, is currently Executive Vice President Labour Relations, Long and Short Term Incentives at Rheinmetall AG. Over the past 15 years, she has held a series of senior human resources roles within the Group, gaining deep insight into the company’s operations, workforce, and culture. Prior to joining Rheinmetall, she worked as a lawyer at a leading labour law firm and later as a labour lawyer in the HR department of the Generali Group. Her promotion reflects Rheinmetall’s commitment to cultivating leadership talent from within and ensuring continuity in its HR and labour relations strategy.
