Orange Business Launches Dedicated Defense & Security Division to Bolster National Sovereignty

(IN BRIEF) Orange Business has inaugurated a dedicated Defense & Security Division (DD&S) to strengthen its support of defense and homeland security entities in France and Europe. Formed under the “Lead the Future” plan, DD&S consolidates several hundred specialists to deliver sovereign, resilient digital solutions—spanning 5G, fiber, satellite, and submarine cable networks—as well as AI-driven services, secure data hosting, emergency communications, and advanced cybersecurity in partnership with Orange Cyberdefense. Led by Nassima Auvray and backed by Orange’s extensive infrastructure, the division aims to address the sector’s rigorous demands for data sovereignty, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 30-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Orange is reinforcing its dedication to national sovereignty by launching a new Defense & Security Division within Orange Business. This move, part of the “Lead the Future” strategic plan, underscores Orange’s commitment to high-sovereignty sectors and leverages its operational strengths to support defense and homeland security organizations across France and Europe.

Recognizing the Defense and Security community’s growing reliance on advanced digital technologies—and its stringent demands for resilience, data sovereignty, risk anticipation, and regulatory compliance—Orange Business has created Direction Défense & Sécurité (DD&S). This specialized division unites several hundred experts focused on driving the digital transformation of government ministries, critical operators, and private-sector players in defense and domestic security.

The new unit will expand and enhance capabilities in key areas: resilient connectivity, civilian–military network hybridization, secure data hosting, emergency communications, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. It will collaborate closely with Orange Cyberdefense’s Defense and Security Vertical—France’s leading cyber-protection provider—to integrate threat intelligence, detection, prevention, and incident response.

DD&S will harness Orange Business’s premier-owned infrastructure: France’s highest-quality 5G network, 45,000 km of terrestrial fiber, over 2,500 satellite antennas, and 450,000 km of submarine cables. By pooling know-how from across the Orange Group, the division will deliver end-to-end solutions—from innovation and systems integration to ongoing operations, security hardening, and service excellence.

Nassima Auvray, newly appointed Director of Defense & Security, stated: “I’m honored to helm this critical division. Our multidisciplinary team will craft sovereign, resilient, and high-value digital solutions—ranging from advanced cybersecurity and AI to pioneering quantum technologies—to meet the fast-evolving requirements of defense and security clients and to build tomorrow’s secure infrastructure.”

Aliette Mousnier Lompré, CEO of Orange Business, added: “Defense and security demand tailored expertise and a profound grasp of sovereignty and resilience. By establishing the Defense & Security Division, we are channeling Orange Business’s technological capabilities and operational excellence to serve stakeholders in this vital, growing sector.”
