(PRESS RELEASE) GRAZ, 3-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — ANDRITZ’s resource-saving technologies have been successfully deployed at Nine Dragons Paper’s new integrated pulp and paper production plant in Hubei Jianli, China, where the state-of-the-art pulp mill has now been commissioned. This world-class installation, featuring advanced process technology and production equipment, enables Nine Dragons Paper to achieve both its financial targets and sustainability objectives through superior energy efficiency and low emissions.

The comprehensive scope of ANDRITZ’s delivery included the complete fiberline and recovery island, along with cutting-edge stock preparation and paper-machine approach systems.

“Thanks to the collaborative dedication of everyone involved, we realized early delivery, swift installation, and seamless first-time startup,” said Liu Ming Chung, Deputy Chairman and CEO of Nine Dragons Paper. “We are delighted with the project’s execution and look forward to the benefits it brings.”

ANDRITZ’s Engineering, Procurement, and Supervision (EPS) Deliverables

  • Complete Fiberline: Engineered for bleached hardwood pulp production with a switchable configuration for softwood. Key features include LoSolids continuous cooking, closed screening, highly efficient pulp washing with the Compact Press, two-stage oxygen delignification, and a three-stage elemental chlorine-free bleaching sequence—maximizing uptime, reducing effluent, and boosting washing efficiency.
  • Evaporation Plants: A multiple-effect lamella evaporator concentrates kraft black liquor to 85% dry solids, while an APMP effluent evaporator reaches 65% dry solids. Both units leverage ANDRITZ’s latest lamella technology for cleaner condensates and lower energy use, delivering exceptional environmental and economic performance.
  • Recovery Boiler: Operating at 515 °C and 105 bar(g) superheated steam, the boiler includes three-stage air preheating, flue-gas cooling, and feed-water preheating modules to optimize renewable energy generation, all compliant with stringent local emission regulations.
  • White Liquor Plant: Comprising a recausticizing section with green-liquor cooling, slaker-classifier, causticizer agitators, a dregs drum filter, and high-efficiency lime-mud and white-liquor filters—plus a lime kiln with sector cooler—this integrated system meets top environmental standards while minimizing energy use.
  • Ash Re-Crystallization (ARC) System: Treats electrostatic-precipitator ash to lower chloride and potassium levels, recovering sodium and sulfate to enhance the overall recovery cycle.
  • Stock Preparation System: Processes virgin pulp into ivory board stock with high throughput, excellent fiber quality, and reduced energy consumption, fiber loss, and operating costs.
  • Paper-Machine Approach: Includes fiber recovery and broke handling to ensure optimal efficiency, reduced energy use, and low maintenance requirements.
