METLEN Expands Industrial Defense Footprint with KNDS Agreement for Next Generation Leopard Platform

(IN BRIEF) METLEN, acting through its M Technologies Sector, has signed a multi-year agreement with KNDS Deutschland to manufacture 200 assemblies for the LEOPARD 2A8 main battle tank. Production will take place at the company’s Defence Hub in Volos through 2031, supporting the needs of European defense programs and aligning with METLEN’s medium-term strategy presented in London in April 2025. The deal builds on a long-standing partnership between METLEN and KNDS and is accompanied by ongoing discussions to broaden cooperation into other defense platforms. With expanding facilities and recognized expertise in complex metal constructions, METLEN is reinforcing its role as a key industrial contributor to Europe’s defense capabilities.

(PRESS RELEASE) ATHENS / LONDON, 18-Dec-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — METLEN has entered into a new industrial agreement with KNDS Deutschland through its M Technologies Sector, securing the production of 200 critical assemblies for the LEOPARD 2A8 main battle tank. Developed by KNDS, the LEOPARD 2A8 represents the latest evolution of the Leopard platform and is widely regarded as one of the most advanced armored vehicles currently deployed by European armed forces.

Production under the contract will be carried out at METLEN’s Defence Hub in Volos, with manufacturing activities scheduled to continue until 2031. The program supports the growing requirements of multiple European nations for modern, high-performance defense equipment and reflects the strategic direction METLEN outlined during its Capital Markets Day at the London Stock Exchange in April 2025. Continuous investment in production infrastructure and technical capabilities is positioning the company as a long-term industrial partner within Europe’s defense ecosystem.

The agreement further strengthens a cooperation between METLEN and KNDS that spans more than two decades and is characterized by operational reliability and shared industrial standards. Beyond the current program, the two groups are already engaged in advanced discussions aimed at expanding collaboration into additional categories of defense systems. These initiatives are intended to reinforce Europe’s defense autonomy while supporting the creation of specialized manufacturing roles and advancing technological development both in Greece and across the continent.

Through M Technologies, METLEN has developed extensive expertise in the fabrication of heavy and highly complex metal structures, particularly for defense applications with demanding technical specifications. The company’s output is recognized at a European level for its quality and consistency. When operating at full capacity, the Defence Hub in Volos will include the Nea Ionia Volos facility, the Servisteel plant in the A’ Industrial Area of Volos, and four additional industrial complexes. Together, these six autonomous units will allow METLEN to execute up to six defense programs in parallel, significantly enhancing industrial flexibility and output capacity.
